In 1906. Razzazza Mazzazza was the kind of tune that had everyone tapping their feet and scratching their heads. especially in the United States. where ragtime and brass band music were basically the musical equivalent of a caffeinated squirrel—fast. wild. and everywhere. The composer. Arthur Pryor. was living his best life as a trombonist and bandleader. hitting the peak of his career. When Razzazza Mazzazza came out. it had everyone from the brass band geeks to the average person wondering. What in the world is a ‘Razzazza Mazzazza’? And while we’ll never know exactly what it means. one thing’s for sure: it sounded like a song that could make even your grandma grab a tambourine and join a parade.
