Why Notel?
On August 28. 1987. construction began on what would become the tallest unoccupied building in the world. The Ryugyong Hotel is a 1.080 ft skyscraper in North Korea whose construction was halted in 1992. as the country entered a period of economic crisis due to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The building stood. without any windows or interior fittings. until 2008 when construction finally resumed. The exterior was completed in 2011. and an opening was planned for 2012… then 2013… Today. nearly forty years after ground-breaking. the hotel remains unoccupied.
